Books and More...The Paris Library, author: Janet Skeslien Charles

Odile has imagined and dreamed of this opportunity, to become a librarian for The Paris Library. She has studied and memorized the Dewey System referencing it equal to her love of books. We are drawn into this period of 1939 Paris with war and talk of Hitler’s world of hate swirling in the midst. For most, the horrors of World War 1 are still at the forefront of their minds and war should be avoided at all cost. There is disbelief that the world would allow such unbelievable atrocities and that war could be at their doorstep once again. Balancing the story unfolding in 1939 is the story the author shares of Lilly, a seventh-grader living in 1983 Montana. Lily is navigating her life as an only child with heartache looming and a fascinating neighbor to hold her attention. The two stories weave and blend together creating a gift of love and understanding.
